Second Line on High

Several years ago, we developed a way to honor members of SPDJ once they have passed away by having a memorial meeting/Celebration of Life. We also thought that this would be a great way to raise scholarship funds. Our By-Laws state that the funds we raise will be used for scholarships to perpetuate this music to the young members of our group who are music students. Our beloved SPDJ members who have joined the

2021 2nd Line on High

Since the pandemic occurred and we lost so many more members not only to Covid but to other causes. And, because we were unable to meet last February, we couldn’t celebrate those that joined the Second Line on High Memorial List. This year will be a larger list of members who will be on that memorial list who have passed through March 2020 through January 2022.

As we did in 2020, we will be having musicians join jam sessions with the club creed to encourage more people not only to learn Traditional Dixieland Jazz music, but to also enjoy the great sounds and traditions. And during this time we will be have Mike Olson and CJ Sams helping to put the musician groups together while memorializing and dedicating this great music to those who have joined this elite group.

If you would like to include friends and family in this group, please fill out the 2022 Second Line on High Memorial/Celebration of Life Form, or pick up a form from the SPDJ meeting in January. You can determine the amount to donate. Donations may be tax deductible (please consult your tax advisor). SPDJ is a 501C3 non-profit organization. Please include the name of your sponsored 2nd Line on High member, a family representative and their address, a picture, a brief statement about this memorialized person, and maybe their favorite Trad Jazz song. Please print the form, fill it out, and mail it to Society for the Preservation of Dixieland Jazz, P.O. Box 1365, Monrovia, CA 91017.
